WASHINGTON – Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP congratulates its client Embraer SA on winning the Air Finance Journal 2010 Middle East Deal of the Year award for its innovative transaction with Natixis Transport Finance, Saudi Arabia’s National Air Services (NAS). The deal financed the $27 million purchase of an Embraer E190 aircraft by NAS.

“This first-of-its-kind financing structure paves the way for future export credit financing for Embraer aircraft,” said Timothy J. Lynes, chair of Katten’s Aviation Practice, who served as counsel to Embraer. “Previously, commercial banks have not provided this kind of financing for Embraer. This new structure allows commercial banks to fund Embraer aircraft with a Brazilian government guarantee. It is an innovative, forward-thinking structure and a credit to Embraer’s creativity.”

The Katten team advising Embraer also included Robyn Mandel and Sean Gordon.
